Dear Select Board Members and Town Administrator Carey,

I am a Town Meeting Member for Precinct 14, Co-President of the Settlement Neighborhood Association and 33 year resident of Ackers Avenue.

I watched the presentation at the Bicycle Advisory Committee for the Chestnut Hill Avenue improvements. This looks like a great plan that will add crosswalks and slow down speeding drivers.

However, removing the parking between Ackers Ave and Route 9 and adding rubber bike lane dividers is a terrible idea. Chestnut Hill Avenue is a main road but it is also a residential street. People who live there need parking for visitors, package and mail delivery vehicles, home health aides, plumbers and so forth. The road is already accommodating marked lanes for bicycles and this seems adequate to me. The amount of bicycle traffic there is miniscule.

Please reconsider adding the protected bike lanes. Whoever came up with that plan clearly did not consult the residents of Chestnut Hill Ave. I did not even receive notice of this project and I am a Town Meeting Member and abutter. My job is to advocate for my constituents and neighbors and this parking plan will have a serious negative impact on those living on Chestnut Hill Avenue. There should have been robust community and neighborhood engagement on this project and there was literally none.

Thanks for your consideration.

Lynda Roseman, Town Meeting Member, Precinct 14
